Year of Beckham (3 Months)

Our little Beck is showing so much personality! He is smiling and laughing at us and the boys almost all day and has become so observant. Many people have made the comment he seems like he is always startled and really aware and it's so funny he totally does. He rarely naps during the day unless I'm holding him or I have him swaddled for his one nap at home during the day. My older two boys would always nap on the go and in the car so that has been a big adjustment for me because Beck still hates the car and always wants to be held or laying on the couch watching his brothers play. I don't mind though I love every minute with him! At 3 months baby Beckham...

- sticks his tongue out
- smiles and coos all day
- laughs when tickled and talked too
- cries whenever he's in the carseat or the car
- is my skinniest baby so far! I am trying to nurse him more often to thicken him up!
- attempts to roll from his back to belly!
- loves when we prop him up and tries to sit up by himself
- wearing 3-6 month clothes
- holdin on to that reddish brown hair!

I have really slacked writing in his baby journal so I am really grateful for all the pictures and videos we take of him and the monthly blog posts I have done for him. I am tired and busy but honestly the happiest in my life having these boys of mine. Every morning Krew and Dash fight over who gets to carry Beck out to the couch and it used to drive me crazy but now I am just so grateful and happy to watch them be brothers and be so proud of him.  We can't wait to dress him up for Halloween and get to celebrate his first holiday season!

Fall Outfit Staples

Fall is finally here! Don't get me wrong I love summer and feel so happy when the sun is shining but October is my JAM. It's my oldest son's birthday and mine and I love all things festive and celebrating. I feel like fall is the kick off to the holiday season and starting with Halloween is so much fun. I can't wait to take the boys to the pumpkin patch and start scratching things off our fall to do list.
I'm not a girl who loves shorts and tank tops so I am all about sweater weather. I'm happiest in a pair of jeans and a cute top with some flats or booties. I rounded up some of my favorite things for fall and all the things I'm currently shopping for. Some fall staples in my wardrobe are most definently my leather jacket, a pair of good jeans, and booties. I recently got this hat that I am obsessed with and plan on wearing all fall long. If you're looking for something more trendy try a jumpsuit or a flat brim hat to add a little switch up to your fall staples.

BOOTIES
It's no secret shoes are my favorite thing to shop for. Hands down. I love all of these and that the new trend are lower heels and higher up on the ankle. So practical.
LEATHER JACKET
I wear my BlankNYC jacket over everything! It goes with jeans, workout attire, and sweats. All my favorite things to wear and casually dress up.
DENIM & JEANS
I recently decided to invest in some Levi's and I love them. It's so fun that the highwaisted trend is back instyle. Being a mom I don't want low rise annyything lol. Here are some jeans in my closet or currently in my cart!

Hair Products + Best Tips

Many of you girls already know, but I am a licensed cosmetologist so I love all things hair and beauty. I wouldn't say I am a product junkie but I definently like to try new things and over the years have found a few things that work great and get the job done. I am more of a blonde expert (being blonde all my life) so I know all about maintaining healthy hair and things that work. Personally I am pretty naturally blonde so I usually only get my hair foiled a few times a year. I switch back and fourth between full foils and partials but mostly partials. My ends are pretty solid blonde so if you're looking for a look like this it will either take a lot of foils over time or you stylist should tease out and blonde your ends in between your foils. I used to never get toners but after I went red a few years ago I had to in order to get my achieved blonde tone. My mom usually does my hair but I also have a few girlfriends who do it for me locally too. I'm not picky!

Here's a few tips I have for healthy gorgeous hair!

Dry Shampoo is your friend. And not just for dirty hair days! It gives such great volume and texture without making the hair too gritty. I love to use it after I curl my hair to really fluff up my curls. Make sure you're focusing on your roots and really sectioning the hair to get it to the scalp.

Less is more! Only use 2-4 products when styling. 1 or 2 when wet and then 1 or 2 or dry. I recommend using serum on wet ends or a root booster and then when dry using a finishing spray or cream to smooth ends or separate curls. Over using product will ruin all the hard work you've put in.

Get regular trims! I believe your hair grows differently for everyone but taking vitamins and regular trims will really keep your hair feeling fuller, thicker, and over all healthier. Don't skip them!

Use a deep conditioner once a month. But don't think this fixes damage. The only way to fix damage is to cut it off. Olaplex step 3 really helps though. I recommend all blondes have this in their bathroom to use inbetween services.

Toners don't fix hair. If you want white hair but your hair can't lift that high a toner isn't going to make it bright blonde. Be patient and lift slowly. Toners are just to add a little brightness or tone out unwanted pigments but they fade over time and are more of a gloss and quick fix so don't think that the same toner another girl uses is the one for you. It depends on the level and tone your hair is already at.

Don't use the highest heat your curling iron or straightner has. Especially if you have blonde or fine hair.  A lower heat will do the job and create less heat damage. I try to only curl my hair a couple times a week. Try switching up your style so you're not drying and curling your hair everyday to help prevent damage and give your hair the natural oils it needs to not dry out.

Use what your stylist recommends! I sometimes use store bought products too but the professional stuff really does work better and is worth your investment. You don't need alot of products but a few professional ones will really up your game and make your hair standout.

Try leaving your ends out for a more relaxed look. I can't tell you the number of girls who have asked how I curl my hair but I promise it really is so simple! I use 1 1/4 curling iron and leave 1-2 inches out at the end of my iron so all the curl and body is through the middle of my hair. Curling from the bottom makes the top lay flat and heavy. Curl higher up and leave the ends out! Toss your hair with some dry shampoo or texture spray to give it some life after curling and bam! So easy.

How To Start A Blog

How To Start A Blog

A lot of people have the idea that blogging is too saturated and now it's too late to get going. I disagree. I think that when you're good at something or passionate it doesnt matter if you're the first or the last you should share it and you will find your own success. The best thing about this time is that we have the internet and social media and anyone can create a blog or business out of nowhere. If you have a creative bone and the internet you can create great content and get it out to people so don't feel intimidated and just START!

First thing is to find a host site. There are so many out there it's really up to you which one you want to choose. Most are free but if you want to own your site you have to buy it which in my opinion is worth it. This usually costs about $10 a month or you can pay for the year up front which is what I did. I have used sites like SQUARE SPACE and WORDPRESS but ultimately went back to BLOGGER. It's so easy to start a page you just create an account choose a layout and start creating content and adding your own touch.

Most people don't know html coding. You CAN teach yourself but it takes so much time so I decided to pay someone on etsy for my blog design You can even pay them to install it for you too but mine came with instructions and I put it into my site myself. (This is easier than it sounds trust me. Also Etsy sellers are usually really helpful if you just email them. Make sure you buy a layout that is compatible with the site you are using! If you use blogger, search for a blogger blog design) It makes it so much easier to have someone do the fine tuning for you! I think I paid $30-$50 for my site design which is soooo affordable. I know most big bloggers will pay for someone to create a customized site from scratch that can cost upwards of $500. (Don't worry about doing that, start simple!) Do a little research and decide what you want to do but for starting out I would say go simple and affordable while you get going.

Create pages through your template that tell who you are and how to contact you. It's important that your site be easy to navigate and anyone visiting your site will know who you are and what you're about. Photos are key on any blog. It's super important to have visual images to go along with your posts. I recommend a very minimum of 1 photo per blog post and to post every week and work your way up to posting more often after that. (Multiple times a week if you'd like to make a job out of it)

Pick a niche or topic that you primarily find yourself wanting to talk about or know that you have a lot of experience in and focus on that. If you love what you are writing and talking about it will show and your readers will enjoy your posts more. If your blog is just for family things and life updates, GREAT! Post as often as you want! Still include those photos though, that's what really makes a memory stand out and fun to read your blog.

Don't compare yourself or worry about what anyone else is doing. This is the hardest part of blogging but it's so important to stay true to yourself and to just put out YOUR own best work. You will always get better and learn along the way so just begin and continue to learn. As soon as you begin you will start to get new ideas and they will evolve so just start and put all your focus into what YOU are doing. It's okay to be inspired, create a mood board! But never try to recreate other people's look. You'll just never be happy with your work so find what works best for you.

Before sharing your blog I recommend having at least 5 posts up for people to look at. You want to have a few things up to keep peoples interest and to have some things for them to look at it. Make sure your first post is introducing yourself and what your blog will be about. Sharing your posts over social media is the only way to get exposure so share share share. You might feel like you're over doing it but trust me you're not. The more you share your content and promote yourself the more successful you'll be. No one is going to advocate for you so you have to be your own best advertisement!

Once you get going you can start reaching out to brands and signing up for campaign sites that will offer you sponsored posts. I am just starting at this so I plan to do another blog post later on when I get some experience and learn more about the making money side of blogging which anyone can do as well!

Wild Blackberry Muffins

Wild Blackberry Muffins

1 ½ cupsall-purpose flour
1/2 cupgranulated sugar (plus 1 tablespoon for muffin tops)
½ teaspoonsalt
2 teaspoonsbaking powder
⅓ cupneutral flavored oil (canola, vegetable and grape seed are great)
large egg
1/2 cupmilk (dairy and non-dairy both work)
1 ½ teaspoons
vanilla extract

berries to taste and preference (we used quite a bit)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Mix dry ingredients first then add wet
finish with as much berries into the mixture as you want
bake until tops are no longer wet! (15 minutes)

I love the end of summer when we get to go pick some wild blackberries! It always give the kids and I something fun to bake as school starts and this year we made some fresh black berry muffins for Krew to take to his teacher on the first day. We loved them so much we've made 3 pans now! Luckily this recipe is really easy and the blackberries are free and fun to go pick as a family. Last year we made a cobbler and then topped them on vanilla bean ice cream one night. So yummy!
